In front of me there is a stone
With many names I see
Each of these names signifies
What others have done for me.
They wear a uniform and don a badge
These things they wore with pride
To lead us and protect us
To be our special guides.
Each of these names is special
These names we know so well
Carved deep within this stone
Each a story we must tell.
My dad is one of these men
Whose memory we honor here
As I wipe a tear of gratitude
I feel his presence near.
What these officers have done
Was not done in vain
We will remember each one always
As we look upon their names.
Our lives are now changed forever
We have a debt we can't repay
With tears, and hope, and gratitude
We honor each of you today.
