TRIBUTE STORIES

TAKEN ALL TOO SOON
by Lisa Freeman

For those of us who knew Todd, we are forever touched. Todd's memory lives within my heart which still aches from time to time. Every day is just another day made for missing him.

Anger stirs from within my soul everytime I hear the name Kenneth Paul Wilk. What possesses anyone to murder someone in cold blood just to get out of trouble for something they did. Selfish. By taking Todd from this world, Wilk has forever damaged the lives of thousands of people.

I have never known another like Todd Michael Fatta. He was so kind, so honest and so very sweet. I remember the first time Todd and I met. I could not pray harder for that darn Nextel to quit chirping. Work. Todd loved his job. He loved helping people. Sitting across from him at Olive Garden, he actually threw a piece of a breadstick at me! And I thought it was funny, even for a first date. Needless to say, he received a wet paper ball through my straw at the forehead.

Todd was always there for me, always made time for me. No matter what. Even when he hurt his knee playing football with the guys, he still took me out. To the beach no less. He worked so much but he always made time for me and he always called back. Always until August 19th, 2004.

I remember getting the IM from another BSO deputy and I honestly thought he was joking. He sent me the link and I saw for myself. I felt my chest collapsing as I read. I didn't even respond to the IM. I went crazy. Pacing, crying, hurting...I'd never lost a loved one like this. After I could half function, I couldn't even drive, I took a cab to the Sheriffs Office and collapsed into my father's arms. He already knew.

I could never say enough to instill into people how wonderful Todd was. He did not deserve this.

Todd, I will never forget you. You will always hold your own special place in my broken heart. We all hope you are resting in peace and in a better place. Do not worry, we will get Wilk. I promise.

Love You Always
