TRIBUTE STORIES

A HERO
By cory moseley

K9 Deputy Brian Litz was a hero, father, husband, and a brother to us at the Marion county sheriff's office in Florida. Some one who we look up to and will never forget. Deputy Brian Litz loved his job and loved helping the comunity and always tried to help in any kind of way to the best of his abilities. Brian loved Bat Man. And I thought of him as Bat Man always helping and saving people, and always geting the bad guys of the streets.

Then on the morning of Febuary 7, 2004 Deputy Brian Litz was called to go do a well being check, which is when a deputy goes and checks on someone's family member for them. So Deputy Brian Litz responded to this person's house, and when Brian walked up he saw that this person had a gun.

Deputy Brian Litz thought he was trying to commit suicide, and like the loving person Brian was, he did not draw his weapon. He tried to talk to him, and Deputy Brian Litz did not even have a chance. When he walked up, the suspect shot him, and Deputy Brian Litz Died on the scene. And a terrible day it was, and we at the Marion county sheriff's office will never forget that day. But in our eyes, Deputy Brian Litzs is still a hero, a father, a husband, a friend and a brother, and his memories will never be lost.
